CONTACTLESS OPENING OF THE TAILGATE.
When someone wants to open the luggage compartment after a shopping spree, they usually have to awkwardly search for the key in their bags while standing in front of the car with their arms full. This becomes unnecessary with the innovative Comfort Access system, which – in conjunction with the automatic operation of the tailgate – enables contactless opening of the tailgate. A quick, directed wave of the foot under the rear bumper allows the tailgate to be opened via sensor. It then unlocks and swings open on its own. Sensors installed at different heights in the rear bumper detect the wave of the foot and open the luggage compartment. This innovative feature from BMW ConnectedDrive makes opening and loading the luggage compartment more convenient. Access is only granted when the system also detects the presence of an authorised car key.
FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WITH FOLDABLE BACKREST.
The front passenger seat with foldable backrest is testament to the high flexibility and well thought out space concept. The backrest can be completely folded down forwards with a handle, creating a virtually flat surface. This enables longer items and sport equipment up to a length of 2.40 metres to be transported.
ELEVATED SEAT POSITION.
The elevated seat position has several advantages. It permits a significantly better view in all directions and for all passengers, which improves safety through better visibility and awareness. The elevated seat position also makes getting into and out of the car more comfortable for all passengers. It also impacts the appearance of the interior – passengers gain a better sense of the car's height and spaciousness.
LOADING IN COMFORT.
To get your holiday off to a good start, you need to pack properly. And with the flexibility of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, a relaxing time is assured before you even hit the road. With its large doors, wide-opening tailgate, optional foldable passenger seat, adjustable rear seat bench and a luggage compartment floor that creates space seemingly out of nowhere, you can store your luggage, sports equipment and travel utensils in the spacious interior with no hassle at all.
Three-piece backrest
The rear backrests, divisible in a 40:20:40 split, make the vehicle even more practical. The three pieces of the rear backrest can be folded down individually, or in any combination. However they are arranged, the opening created is level with the luggage compartment floor. This makes utilisation of the luggage compartment more flexible and allows for the easy transport of bulky luggage, or the comfortable seating of four people plus long items like skis.
Electronically folding rear backrests
Remote electronic rear backrest release makes it particularly easy to release the rear backrests and fold them down. With the push of a button, the backrests can be released from the luggage compartment. Switches for this purpose are located on the left and right sides. The left luggage compartment switch releases the segments that make up the left 40% and the centre 20% of the backrest. The right switch releases the segment that makes up the right 40%.
ADJUSTABLE REAR SEAT.
The adjustable rear seat allows even more versatile use of the luggage compartment. The seats can be adjusted to either increase leg room for the rear passengers or to maximise loading space in the luggage compartment, depending on the needs for each journey. Both are extremely practical for everyday use. The seat length can be mechanically adjusted up to 130 millimetres with a handle under the seat. The seat can be divided in a 60:40 split. Adjustable backrests make riding in the rear seat more comfortable and offer the option of expanding the luggage compartment. When the rear seat back rest is completely folded down into a 40:20:40 split, customers have access to a nearly flat load-compartment floor.
LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WITH FOLDING FLOOR.
The luggage compartment with folding floor makes the vehicle even more practical. When the floor is closed, this creates a level surface that can be loaded with up to 420 kg of cargo, perfect for cases of drinks, baskets and bags. There is also further storage space located under the floor, with a volume of around 70 litres (without the optional emergency spare wheel), and a practical storage tray for smaller items. The folding floor can be easily opened in just a few steps to reach this additional space under the floor, providing simple and comfortable access.
